YOUR FAVOURITE "RITUAL"
My wedding! I think the ritual began months before the actual event. In Hawaiian tradition they call the time before a big ritual Ho'oponopono ‘the bringing of the truth’And it’s true, anything unclear must be cleared and released before you can really enter into something with the best intention and a full heart.
On the day of our wedding ritual all of the women invited to the wedding were separated from the men and gathered outside of where I was getting ready. Each woman made a flower crown for themselves whilst learning the song we would all enter the ceremony space singing.
It was the most potent and powerful ritual I have ever been a part of.
I truly believe as a community we have very little ritual in our lives – and the more we can create the better. They are important rites of passage and instead of seeing them as a way of being held down by an institution I now see them as a blessing in every way and the true beauty these rituals can hold.
TELL ME A STORY THAT HAS CHANGED YOUR LIFE:
I think the above question answers this as well – but the other ones would be the birth of my daughters – there is nothing that can prepare you for such a transformative experience – aside from the usual stories of the challenges of birth the feeling of holding a new life in your arms is beyond reasonable – I mean really, we can create a whole being – it’s phenomenal..and that feeling of being surrounded by people only there to support you and your experience is so incredibly powerful. And then your life changes in ways you never knew possible, some good, some definitely tricky, but all of them shape you in ways you would never change. This is making me want to have another baby!
